It’s simple. It reminds us of something:

God is still the Commander of the universe.

He rules. He oversees. He judges. He cares for you. He never changes.

He is with you. He hears your prayers.

Nothing happens without His permission. 

The LORD maintains your cause and executes judgment for you. (Psalm 9:4-5)

When I started my first business in Germany, the multibillion-dollar car company Audi challenged my business name, claiming it was too similar to theirs. I was a college student with barely enough money to support myself, let alone hire a lawyer. Anxiety overwhelmed me when I opened their letter. I prayed and called a close friend in New York who happened to be a patent attorney. Together, we wrote a response—and the case was dismissed. But Audi didn’t give up. Their entire legal department continued fighting for nine years, eventually taking the dispute all the way to Germany’s Federal Court of Justice—the country’s highest court. 

Yet they did not win. Their claim was rejected twice, and then they eventually gave up. I could have spent those years worrying, hiring lawyers, and fighting desperately. Instead, God kept reminding me that He was still on the throne.
